The enzyme from Zea mays, variety Delprim, gives mainly sesquithujene with (S)-β-bisabolene and (E)-β-farnesene plus traces of other sesquiterpenoids, cf. EC 184.108.40.206 [(S)-β-bisabolene synthase] and EC 220.127.116.11 (β-farnesene synthase). It requires Mg2+ or Mn2+. The exact product ratio is dependent on which metal ion is present.
