Comments: Ectoine is an osmoprotectant that is found in halophilic eubacteria. This is the third enzyme in the ectoine-biosynthesis pathway, the other enzymes involved being EC, diaminobutyrate—2-oxoglutarate transaminase and EC, diaminobutyrate acetyltransferase [1,2].
