Accepted name: |
ABC-type D-galactofuranose transporter |
Reaction: |
ATP + H2O + D-galactofuranose-[galactofuranose-binding protein][side 1] = ADP + phosphate + D-galactofuranose[side 2] + [galactofuranose-binding protein][side 1] |
Other name(s): |
D-galactofuranose transporting ATPase; D-galactofuranose ABC transporter |
Systematic name: |
ATP phosphohydrolase (ABC-type, D-galactofuranose-transporting) |
Comments: |
ATP-binding cassette (ABC) type transporter, characterized by the presence of two similar ATP-binding domains/proteins and two integral membrane domains/proteins. The enzyme from Escherichai coli interacts with a periplasmic substrate binding protein and mediates the high affinity uptake of D-galactofuranose. The periplasmic binding protein exhibits selective binding of D-galactofuranose over D-galactopyranose. |
