Accepted name: thyroid-hormone transaminase
Reaction: L-3,5,3′-triiodothyronine + 2-oxoglutarate = 3-[4-(4-hydroxy-3-iodophenoxy)-3,5-diiodophenyl]-2-oxopropanoate + L-glutamate
Other name(s): 3,5-dinitrotyrosine transaminase; thyroid hormone aminotransferase
Systematic name: L-3,5,3′-triiodothyronine:2-oxoglutarate aminotransferase
Comments: A pyridoxal-phosphate protein. Acts on monoiodotyrosine, diiodotyrosine, triiodothyronine, thyroxine and dinitrotyrosine (unlike EC diiodotyrosine transaminase, which does not act on dinitrotyrosine). Pyruvate or oxaloacetate can act as acceptors.
