This enzyme is involved in the biosynthesis of the cyanogenic glucoside dhurrin in sorghum, along with EC 22.214.171.124, tyrosine N-monooxygenase and EC 126.96.36.199, 4-hydroxyphenylacetaldehyde oxime monooxygenase. This reaction prevents the disocciation and release of toxic hydrogen cyanide .
