Accepted name: L-proline cis-4-hydroxylase
Reaction: L-proline + 2-oxoglutarate + O2 = cis-4-hydroxy-L-proline + succinate + CO2
Systematic name: L-proline,2-oxoglutarate:oxygen oxidoreductase (cis-4-hydroxylating)
Comments: Requires Fe2+ and ascorbate. The enzyme, isolated from Rhizobium species, only produces cis-4-hydroxy-L-proline (cf. EC, L-proline trans-4-hydroxylase).
