Accepted name: cobalt-precorrin-8 methylmutase
Reaction: cobalt-precorrin-8 = cobyrinate
For diagram of anaerobic corrin biosynthesis (part 2), click here
Other name(s): cbiC (gene name)
Systematic name: precorrin-8 11,12-methylmutase
Comments: The enzyme catalyses the the conversion of cobalt-precorrin-8 to cobyrinate by methyl rearrangement, a step in the anaerobic (early cobalt insertion) pathway of adenosylcobalamin biosynthesis. The equivalent enzyme in the aerobic pathway is EC, precorrin-8X methylmutase.
