Global changes made to the Enzyme List

May 2006
The field-name 'Common name' was changed to 'Accepted name'.

May 2006
The way that locants for amino-acids are written has been changed so that it matches the system used for carbohydrates. For example: N5-(L-1-carboxyethyl)-L-ornithine is now written as 5-N-(L-1-carboxyethyl)-L-ornithine. This change has been implemented in the reaction, comments and systematic names. Accepted names have not been changed.

August 23, 2006
'(acceptor)' in systematic names was changed to 'acceptor'. The brackets were included to indicate that the true acceptor is unknown but the fact that the word 'acceptor' is used seems sufficient.

September 23, 2006
Indole-containing compounds. The following name changes have been implemented (reaction, comments and systematic names only):

  • indolelactate = (indol-3-yl)lactate
  • indolepyruvate = (indol-3-yl)pyruvate
  • indoleglycolate = (indol-3-yl)glycolate
  • 3-methyleneoxindole = 3-methylene-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one
  • 3-indole-glycolaldehyde = (indol-3-yl)glycolaldehyde
  • indoleacetyl-CoA = (indol-3-yl)acetyl-CoA
  • (S)-β-methylindolepyruvate = (3S)-3-(indol-3-yl)-3-oxobutanoate
May 2007
The decision to change the way that locants for amino-acids are written was rescinded in May 2007 so all changes that had been made to the Enzyme List as a result of the May 2006 decision have been removed.

16 November 2007
The EC number 4.1.2.85 was inadvertently used for what is now EC 4.1.2.42, D-threonine aldolase. The entry with the incorrect EC number had been made public on 14 November 2007 and the error was corrected on 16 November. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
